My name is Kong Vanthat. I grew up in Siem Reap Province, known as one of the most beautiful cities and tourist destinations in Cambodia. I have a strong passion for working in gender development and social justice, and my best interest is women’s rights, social protection, and justice. My long-term goals would be to play a role in advocating and promoting women’s rights, gender equality, and social justice in Cambodia to empower women to protect themselves and reach their full potential.
I am holding a master’s degree in Business administration and I have participated in different leadership learning exchange program both national and international. In addition, I have more than 10 years of experience working with Non-governmental Organizations in various sectors such as Education, Children’s rights development, Community development, Gender and social justice, Governance and decentralization.
Through my 10 years of working experience, I have been working with many different stakeholders such as government counterparts, policymakers, funding partners, community people, especially women and girls. I had more than five years experiences in a senior leadership role as Executive Director for Women’s Resource Center Organization working to promote women’s rights and gender equality by providing the knowledge and information through a drop in center for counseling to support their maternal health and provide a series workshop on reproductive health and rights, contraception, menstruation and hygiene management and provide empowering them to make better informed decisions about their own life.
My role is to oversee the organizational development, resource mobilization, staff development, and strengthen the networking to ensure the organization is running well and well serve the community people, especially women and girls, so that they can receive better services and support.
I am currently working with GIZ Cambodia, working to promote health and social protection, Economic development, environmental protection, as well as Good Governance
(Decentralization), civic engagement and social accountability. I am working on one of the project call “Improving Service Delivery for Cambodian Citizens (ISD) working to strengthen and empower districts and municipalities in the selected partner provinces use strategies and improved processes for service delivery in priority sectors, including education, health, waste/water management, Administration services, local finances, good governance, and Gender equality for Cambodian citizens.
